Imprints, 2019, woodcut relief printmaking

As both a dancer and an artist, I've been captivated about how to capture the movement and life of dance into a still and stagnant image. To create Imprints I had two of my friends social dance to a bachata song with paint on the bottoms of their feet to capture the movement of the dance in a two dimensional form. The footprints were then scaled down and transferred onto a woodblock, which I then carved to create the print.

Painted mock up version of Imprints, before being transferred onto the woodblock plate.
